Τhe Hellinikon Sales Center would have been the first building to be constructed as part of the Elliniko development in Agios Kosmas. The purpose of the building was to attract buyers, tenants and investors for the residential, commercial and office buildings that will be implemented in the new development. The three levels of the building include; a basement with ancillary spaces, a ground floor with an entrance and reception areas and an upper level with exhibition, meeting rooms, office spaces and other functions.
A key factor in the composition and the concept development of the new building was its relationship to the former airport and its existing infrastructure. Just as the Eastern Airport was once the “Gateway” to Greece for visitors, the new Sales Center aspires to welcome visitors to a new, developing and dynamic contemporary Greece. The building itself reflects these values as a landmark for both the entire Elliniko development and the wider Hellenikon area. Located between the Marina Residential Tower and the Marina Mall, the building design presents unique views to the sea and the surrounding area.
The load-bearing structure of the building consists of reinforced concrete and a steel structure. Two concrete cores carry the loads as well as the lateral loads (for wind pressure and earthquakes). The slab of the ground floor is made of an 80 cm concrete slab (sandwich). The roof of the building (measuring 63m x 22m) is a steel structure. The loads are carried by two steel frames directly to the ground. The lateral loads, however, are carried by the two reinforced concrete cores.
The choice of materials was made to serve the central design concept of the project. Glazed panels were chosen as a key element of the facades, which allow for unobstructed views of the entire site. The glass panels also give the building transparency, unifying the interior and exterior spaces.
